CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating what led to a deadly shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
It happened on Riverdale Road in Clayton County.
Channel 2's Darryn Moore talked to police in Jonesboro who said they have identified a person of interest. They described the victim as a 23-year-old man.
Detectives have not said if they made contact with the person of interest or if they plan to charge him with murder.
Clayton County police told Moore officers responded to the shooting call Thursday night at The Reserve at Riverdale Apartments .
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds.
He died from his injuries, according to police.
Police said detectives on the scene searched the area and found shell casings on the ground.
They said they believe the person who fired the shots lives in the complex.
Police have not said what they think may have triggered the shooting.
