FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — Floyd County police are searching for an inmate who escaped from work detail Thursday.
Police say Garrett Terrell Shields disappeared from the detail on Sproull Road near Trimble Way off Kingston Highway around 3:45 p.m.
Shields is a 44-year-old black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 198 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a blue collar, pants with one blue stripe, an orange sweatshirt and an orange toboggan.
Shields' last known address is in Fulton County. He is on his second year of a 20-year sentence for several violent felonies.
If you see him, call 911 but do not approach Shields.
