Ex-husband arrested in DeKalb double shooting

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga,None — DeKalb County police have arrested the ex-husband of a woman who was killed in a double shooting Wednesday.

Police said the shooting took place at the Wind Chase condominiums off Hambrick Road around 11:30 a.m.

Neighbor Sylvia Hayes said she was sitting at her computer when she heard the first few shots.

"Then I heard four, five shots, and I jumped back in the window. Then, I heard six, seven shots," Hayes told Channel 2's Manuel Bojorquez.

After a witness provided officers with a description of the shooter, police were on the hunt for 26-year-old Jason Bryant, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said. He was arrested around 3:15 p.m. after attempting to pick up his son from the Monarch School in Duluth.

The boy's mother, 23-year-old Angelina Bryant, was killed in the shooting. The surviving victim, 20-year-old Trina Nwoke, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

"We have got to stop this," Hayes said. "If you don't like what's going on in life or what someone is doing to you and you want to take somebody's life, if that's what you've got to do, just remove yourself and leave the rest of us alone."
