ATLANTA — Atlanta police have arrested a couple accused of bringing a baby along on armed robberies.
APD said Brandon Lawson was arrested in Macon on Thursday. On Friday, police confirmed the arrest of Joi Monai Jenkins, 18, the woman believed to have been involved.
Lawson and the woman are accused of several armed robberies in the Buckhead Heights neighborhood.
Channel 2's Ryan Young broke the story on Monday after police gave him surveillance video of the couple sitting outside the Publix across from Phipps Plaza. Viewers called Crimestoppers in the hopes of providing police with enough information to track the couple down.
Neighbors said they are relieved to see that an arrest has been made.
"Very disturbing to hear it happened during Labor Day Weekend," Diana Correa said. "Felt really sad to put a child in that kind of environment."
