2 teens shot during DeKalb County home invasion

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators told Channel 2 Action News a homeowner opened fire on two teens after they broke into his home Monday afternoon.

DeKalb County police said they were called out to Donna Way shortly after 4 p.m.

Officers told Channel 2's Tom Jones a car full of teens was seen backing a stolen car into a home on Donna Way and two of them got out.

Investigators said they rang the doorbell, but the homeowner didn't answer.

That's when they said the teens went around the house to the back door, kicked it in and then went into the home.

Police said the homeowner then opened fire on the two, striking both of them. The teens then ran from the home and were found a short distance away.

Both teens were taken to the hospital where they were in stable condition.

A third teen was also in the car. That person has been taken into custody.

The three teenagers are expected to face charges for the incident, according to police. The man who fired the shots is not expected to be charged, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
