Family outraged by officer-involved shooting

ATLANTA — Police said a man wounded in an officer-involved shooting was walking around a neighborhood with a loaded shotgun during the incident.

The shooting happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Paines Avenue near North Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

Relatives of Eric Williams said the incident has left them upset because they do not believe the 18-year-old had a gun.

Within minutes, Chopper 2 was flying over the scene,  where scores of investigators assembled to find out what happened before the officer opened fire.

Channel 2's Ryan Young spoke to Williams' brother, who said he found the teen "laying on the ground stretched out" after running from police following a traffic stop.

A preliminary investigation is under way.
