A mother is pleading for answers after her son was murdered while he was just feeding his dogs.

Channel 2 has learned police believe this was a completely random attack.

The 44-year-old father Yomont King, who was affectionately known as Mont, was sitting on a stoop feeding his dogs outside of his apartment off of Godby Road in March when someone walked up and opened fire.

A witness told police they saw two men running from the scene.

On Wednesday, Channel 2's Nefertiti Jaquez spoke with the victim's mother, Brenda King.

“Why? Why would they do that?” she asked. “I would like to tell them myself, how they destroyed my life.”

Since March, King has wondered why her son was shot and killed outside of his home.

“It was wrong, it was truly wrong that they could even do that. He was my only son,” she said.

That’s exactly what detectives have been working diligently to try to figure out.

They say, the New York Native had no known enemies and had only moved into this complex three months before he was killed.

His mom says, he only moved here  to be closer to work.

"I may never know – unless they find the person," she said.
