ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell police are looking for witnesses who may have seen something suspicious around the time of a rape.

Police said the attacker grabbed a 56-year-old woman walking to work at about 6 a.m. Tuesday on Holcomb Bridge Road near Warsaw Road.

“[She] was grabbed from behind and forcibly taken into the woods behind a business and raped,” said Lisa Holland with the Roswell Police Department.

After the rape, police said the man robbed the woman and took off running. Investigators told Channel 2’s Liz Artz both the suspect and the victim were Spanish-speaking, but that's the best description she could give. The suspect was about 5 feet 7 with a medium build.

“She's not able to provide any great description, just hoodie covering his entire face," Holland said.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to give them a call.

"Hopefully someone in the area maybe saw somebody standing waiting that looked suspicious,” Holland said.

The man claimed he had a gun, but the victim said she never actually saw the weapon.

In June, Roswell police say an attempted raped occurred about a mile away. In that case, they said a man broke into someone's home.

"We are going to look back at that case, [we] did not find the person involved. [We will] see if that’s connected,” Holland said.

Artz spoke to a jogger who said she was stopped by police Wednesday morning.

"They told me what happened yesterday with the lady and maybe I see some man or something. I didn’t see nothing, I didn't know,” said jogger Guadalupe Madrid.

Detectives said they have added several undercover units in the area Wednesday, plus increased marked patrol cars to patrol the stretch of road.
