PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A Paulding County man has been arrested after deputies said he shot and killed a woman he thought of as a sister.

Paulding deputies were called to a home on Old Locklear Road around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 5. Paulding 911 got a call that a woman had just been shot by her brother while they were both drunk.

When deputies got to the home, they determined that the victim, Shana Nicole Dover, 35, had died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies later arrested Justin Blane Smart, 32, on murder and aggravated assault charges. Investigators determined that Dover and Smart, who were not actually related by blood but were very close friends, got in some kind of argument and Smart shot Dover to death.
Smart is being held at the Paulding County Jail with no bond. Deputies said more charges are likely.
