PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — An investigation is underway after a man was shot early Friday morning, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6 a.m., deputies were called to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Wallace Way in Rockmart.
Authorities said when deputies arrived, they found a man shot. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
The victim’s age and identity have not yet been released.

The PCSO says those believed to be responsible for the shooting left the scene.
Detectives are working to learn what led up to the shooting.
At this time, the sheriff’s office doesn’t believe there is a threat to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
