COBB COUNTY, Ga. — It's been exactly two years since a 25-year-old Marietta woman was hit by an alleged drunk driver.

Channel 2's Craig Lucie met with Erin Holt and her family Friday afternoon to get an update on her progress. Her family says even though they've hit some milestones, there's still a long way to go.

Lucie met Erin Holt and her family at the Carrol Management Group offices in Buckhead, where they were honoring Erin by wearing green.

“Green is in honor of Erin, but it’s also the color for brain injury awareness,” saidher mother, Lynn Holt.

Halloween weekend two years ago, police say alleged drunk driver Tyler Bozeman, 24, ran her over in Statesboro, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury.

“It’s the anniversary, and I always have to reflect back to her prior to this injury -- what could be and what it is now,” said Lynn Holt.

Lucie asked Erin about her recovery.

“I made good progress,” Erin Holt said.

Erin also told Lucie how thankful she is for her parents, friends and our viewers' prayers.

“I wish I could give back what they have given to me, because they have given a lot to me. I wish I could give them what they have given to me,” said Erin Holt.

Her father says it’s been a real struggle.

“It’s kind of a blur, a bad dream and you hope you wake up from it, but you don’t,” said Ben Holt.

Ben Holt says Erin’s long-term memory is amazing. After getting treatment at The Shepard Center she now gets care at home, and their medical bills are in the millions.

“The current value of her care if we stay where we are is approximately $3 million,” said Ben Holt.

The Holts say their daughter is in desperate need of a therapeutic bike that costs $22,000.
