One person injured in Alpharetta house fire

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — One person was taken to the hospital in serious condition after being trapped inside a house fire in Alpharetta.

Flames broke out at the home on Clipper Bay Drive around 6 a.m. Saturday.

The fire department says the home was fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived. When firefighters got on the scene they heard screams from inside the home and quickly began a search.

Police say the woman inside had called 911 and was on the phone with them as she lost consciousness.

Firefighters found the woman in an upstairs bedroom and were able to rescue her as the roof collapsed.

Police say the woman is in her 50s and was in medical distress. Police officers performed CPR until medics arrived. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition.

The fire is out, but the home is destroyed. Fire investigators are working to figure out how the blaze started.
