HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A restaurant that's part of a well-known Italian chain failed a recent health inspection after several violations.

The Olive Garden on Jonesboro Road in McDonough received a 55 on their most recent health inspection.

A spokesperson for the company that owns Olive Garden says the health inspection at the Henry County restaurant did not meet the company's high standards.

“I work in a kitchen everyday, so I know there's no reason for that,” said customer Melain Snyder.

Violations include not following proper hand washing practices, handling raw scallops and then ready-to-eat foods without washing hands, cold foods not held at cold enough temperature, observed employee washing parsley over all ready washed tomatoes and appetizer cooler not holding food at the proper temperature.

The restaurant’s previous score last summer was a low B, an 82. Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge went to the restaurant to ask why they dropped nearly 30 points.

She was referred to Olive Garden's parent company, Darden Restaurants. In a statement, the company spokesperson said, "We immediately corrected the issues identified and we have partnered with the health department on a reinspection. It is completely safe to eat in our restaurant."

“If they correct it, go through everything, (I’ll) probably eat there again, but probably not right now,” said customer Glen Payne.

UPDATE: The restaurnt was re-inspected and received a 100 score.
