TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — Officials at a popular Georgia beach are warning of an increase in rattlesnake calls this year.
Tybee Island Police Department posted on Facebook that they’ve received more calls than normal about the snakes in the dunes at the beach.
“By now it should come as no surprise that we share our island with a wide variety of wildlife, to include rattlesnakes. These critters often nest in the island’s dune system and usually stay well out of the way of our residents and guests. Lately, however, our officers have seen an increase in calls involving rattlesnakes,” the department said, attaching a video of a snake in the dunes.

Officials said it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings at all times while exploring the island.
“If you believe that an animal is in danger or presents a threat to public safety, you can contact us at (912)786-5600 and our team will he happy to investigate,” the post said.
