ATHENS, Ga. — Officers are on the scene of a shooting involving a police officer Monday.
Athens-Clarke County police responded to North Avenue for a disturbance just before 4:30 p.m.
The suspect pulled out a “bladed weapon,” police said.

At least one officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect.
The man was rushed to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center and is being treated for his injuries.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested by Athens-Clarke County Police.
