Sheriff checks in with survivors of crash that killed UGA students

Agnes Kim is in rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center.

OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. — Oconee County sheriff Scott Berry says he has contacted the two survivors of a crash that killed four UGA students last week.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, Berry met Monday night with Agnes Kim’s family at the Athens Regional Medical Center.

Kim was the driver of the car in which the UGA students were riding.

“Miss Kim remains in critical condition and she is surrounded by family and friends,” Berry wrote on Facebook. “I continue to pray for her recovery and those who love her, as I am sure you do as well.”

Berry said he will continue to keep in touch with Kim’s family and share updates with the community.

Berry also posted Tuesday morning that he checked in with Abby Short’s employer to see how she was doing.

Short, the driver of the other car in the wreck, is an EMT at National EMS.

“While I can’t go into specifics, I was told that she is recovering at home with family and receiving a lot of support from her family and coworkers,” Berry wrote on Facebook.
