ATLANTA — A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of north Georgia through 8 p.m. Saturday as dangerously hot and humid conditions continue across the region.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon says the combination of high temperatures and humidity could push heat index values as high as 107 degrees in some areas. Actual air temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-to-upper 90s throughout the weekend.
While the heat will be the main concern, isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon and evening hours both Saturday and Sunday.
Residents should limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated and check on vulnerable family members, neighbors and pets.

Conditions are expected to improve slightly on Labor Day. It will be mostly cloudy skies with a chance for isolated storms and highs in the upper 80s.
The break will be short-lived, however. Dry weather is expected to return early next week, with temperatures gradually climbing back toward 90 degrees across north Georgia.
