NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A mother said she and her family have been forced to sleep outside in a tent because of mold inside their apartment.

Neighbors at Pelfrey Pines, a public housing complex in Roswell, said the mold is so bad that one of them had their own test done that found elevated levels of mold.

They said the complex's management is not doing anything about the problem.

She said the mold first crept into her apartment two years ago.

"The mold spores are slowly crawling up back up the wall," Mashawnda France said.

"All kinds of spores, dangerous spores, mold spores here that nobody should breathe in," she said.

France said she wears a masks in her apartment and has gone to extreme lengths to protect her family.

"We bought a tent and we parked it back there just so we could sleep out there and be out there to function," she said.

Neighbors told Channel 2's Justin Wilfon that they've repeatedly asked the management to work on the problem, but have had no luck.

"They were very hostile, unhelpful and not cooperative," France said.

Wilfon went to the management office, but it closed early.

He later spotted two employees leaving the office, but both got in their cars without answering his questions.
