CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A buffet restaurant in Clayton County just took a big nose dive in its health inspection score.

A health inspector found 22 violations when inspecting Country Charm Buffet on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro.

Potential customer Xavier Collins told Channel 2 Anchor Carol Sbarge he thought about eating there but doesn’t know if he wants to after learning the restaurant got a score of 52 on Jan. 22.

Violations included cold food on the buffet not held cold enough, hot food not kept hot enough and containers of food in the reach in cooler stored uncovered.

The restaurant is known on Friday and Saturday nights for its seafood buffet.

In the inspection report, the inspector noted there was no soap in the employee restrooms and no hot water.

Sbarge went to Country Charm Buffet Monday to ask about the violations. The restaurant still had its previous score of 97 from last March posted on the wall.

The owner told Sbarge that he is renaming it Country Kitchen Buffet. He said when the inspector came last week, he was in the middle of replacing some of the previous staff.

He said he has already fixed the violations. A reinspection is expected in the next week. We’ll let you know how they do.
