No. 2 Georgia defeats No. 6 Alabama, first win in Tuscaloosa since 2007

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 2 Georgia held on to defeat No. 6 Alabama, 20-17, on Saturday night.

Georgia’s defense forced Alabama to punt and Gunner Stockton led the offense in running out the clock in the final minutes. Peyton Woodring scored the game-winning field goal with five minutes to go.

It’s the first time since 2007 that the Georgia defeated Alabama in the regular season in Tuscaloosa.

With No. 1 Texas losing to Oklahoma, the Dawgs are certain to become the new No. 1 team when the Associated Press poll is released Sunday afternoon.
