NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — The permit for a fast food restaurant in Covington was temporarily suspended after three consecutive repeat violations.

The permit has since been reinstated at the McDonald’s on Industrial Boulevard, but  if there is another inspection failure, the permit could be suspended again.

A Newton County health inspector gave the McDonald’s a score of 61 on Monday.

Customer Doris Hardeman said that score is not acceptable and it makes her not want to go back.

Violations included an employee touching the trash and then continuing to prep food, dishes stored with food debris on them and flies seen throughout the restaurant.

When Channel 2 Action News went to the McDonald’s, we were told to leave and no one would make a comment.

The management did not have the current score on the wall. The previous score of 92 was still posted. Hardeman said she was concerned on a recent visit to that McDonald’s because it didn’t seem as clean as she would like.

The restaurant will be reinspected this month. We’ll let you know what the new score is. Since there have been consecutive repeat violations, an inspector will also be doing another inspection within the next two months.
