EARLY COUNTY, Ga. — A southwest Georgia city is waking up to damage after a tornado touched down Monday afternoon.
The tornado hit the city of Damascus, which is in Early County, around 4:45 p.m.
No one died and there’s only one report of someone getting hurt. But the damage is clear. There are homes without roofs and trees uprooted.
ABC affiliate WGXA-TV talked to residents in the area who said it was one of the scariest moments they have had in quite some time.
The National Weather Service visited the city Tuesday to determine the intensity of the tornado. The NWS preliminary reports estimated it was an EF-2 tornado.
