DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dunwoody residents tested out a new interchange design that will be be built near Perimeter Mall next month.

They drove golf carts through a diverging diamond pattern.

The first one will go at 285 and Ashford-Dunwoody Road. Cars exiting and trying to turn left will actually drive on the left side of the bridge when they first turn left.

The Georgia DOT believes the crossover flow will reduce congestion.

"It was easy enough and I'm glad we did this before hand, but it was good," said Crystal Reeves, who tested the strategy.

The interchange bridge will be closed for construction the first weekend in June.
