COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Lakonia Smith says a short drive across a shopping center parking lot left her in a panic.
"I really didn't see him until he hit my car, and when he hit it, he rolled off the car," Lakonia Smith said.
Smith is still upset by what police say was a prank.
"Put 'em in a coffin" is what they're calling the viral fad started by a Chicago rapper.
People are flopping onto the hoods of cars and store displays, and then putting it on YouTube. And now it has happened in Newnan.
"They may have decided it's funny, but they also need to think they're committing a criminal act by doing that,” Deputy Chief Rodney Riggs said.
A customer at the Ashley Park shopping center ended up with a smashed windshield.
"It’s funny to me. Maybe because I’m a teenager,” resident Sha’myia Peak said.
Those who are a little older are not amused.
"It’s silly to me, because you're messing up people's property.” Resident Justin Smith says the "put 'em in a coffin" crowd needs to grow up.
"Because at the end of the day, if it's 'my' car, you're gonna pay for it," Justin Smith said.
Lakonia Smith hopes what happened to her stays off the Internet.
"The group of friends that he was with, they laughed at and thought it was funny. I'm just glad he didn't break my windshield," Lakonia Smith said.
There have been no arrests yet in the two Newnan incidents.
Police say pranksters who break a windshield could be charged with a felony.
