ATLANTA — Neighbors say cars are swerving onto the sidewalk to avoid driving over metal plates in one midtown Atlanta neighborhood.
Those neighbors are now afraid to walk down the street. One woman compared dodging the cars to the video game "Frogger."
The residents tell Channel 2 Action News it's gotten so bad that they don't even feel safe walking around the area,
They say metal coverings over the potholes on Monroe Drive near Greenwood Avenue are to blame.
People who live in the area say drivers are forced to swerve in and around the street just to avoid the construction.
The city told Channel 2 Action News a city inspector would be sent out to the area.
Still, residents maintain the stretch of road is a major safety hazard.
"Who knows if there's a cone out there or you're going to hit something or run into another car, it's kind of a mess," said resident Steve Brewer.
"For us being pedestrians as we're walking on the sidewalk, a car will just swerve onto the sidewalk and we're like playing a game of "Frogger," trying to leap away from it," said neighbor Paula Plant.
The city says the road work should be completed by the end of next week.
