ATLANTA, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News Meteorologist Brian Monahan Wednesday driving around metro Atlanta surveying the damage -- the same damage a National Weather Service team spent the last two days looking at.
He found crews busy cleaning up, from the buzz of chainsaws and wood chippers, to home improvement crews inspecting roofs.
What initially were two tornadoes became five Wednesday, as NWS crews found five separate damage areas. If a tornado lifts for more than two miles and touches back down, that new touch down is considered a new storm.
The storms ravaged through Fulton County, specifically causing damage in Alpharetta and East Cobb. The tornadoes were two EF-1 and three EF-O tornadoes, all spawned from the same storm Tuesday morning.
Some of the worst damage happened just outside of Alpharetta in north Fulton County. Crews are still working as of Wednesday afternoon to clean up downed trees and power lines across the area.
