ATLANTA — A North Carolina NASCAR shop started the year off with a bang.
Surveillance video from JR Motorsports in Mooresville, North Carolina - which is near Charlotte - shows the moment that lightning hit a vehicle in the race shop’s parking lot on Wednesday.

The company shared also shared another video on social media showing a lightning bolt traveling hundreds of yards down a metal fence near the front of the facility.
According to our sister station, WSOC-TV, much of the Charlotte area was impacted by heavy rain and lightning Wednesday morning.
JR Motorsports is the professional race team co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Fame member Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller and NASCAR Hall of Famer Rick Hendrick.
