JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — A Johns Creek mother said she’s furious after another student slapped her daughter at school, but school officials never notified her about it.
Yolanda Dugger told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik the incident happened March 25 at Wilson Creek Elementary School.
“He slapped one child. My daughter told him: ‘no, stop,’ she said. “He said, ‘You want me to slap you, too?’ Pow,” Duggar said.
Dugger said her 10-year-old daughter reported the boy’s behavior to a substitute teacher, but she said the teacher ignored her.
The next day, she reported it to a school counselor, but Dugger said the counselor never bothered to notify her about what happened. She learned about it from her daughter.
“The school should have followed Fulton County code of conduct policy to notify the parent when an incident like this does take place,” she said.
A Fulton County school district spokeswoman acknowledged the counselor didn’t notify Dugger, but said it was an oversight and not intentional.
"She needs to make sure that every student is held to the same policy,” Dugger said.
Dugger believes the principal is protecting the student, because his mother is a teacher at the school.
