ATLANTA, Ga. — A family is still searching for answers six months after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed inside a home in southwest Atlanta.
Atlanta police say someone shot and killed Trevales ‘Tre’ Tolbert on Feb. 15 in the Pittsburgh neighborhood.

Tolbert’s mother, Santriss Hawkins, said the past six months have been emotionally draining as she has tried to understand what happened to her son.
“I don’t think I’ve been able to properly grieve because I’ve been so consumed to figure out what happened to my son on February 15th,” Hawkins said.
According to a police report, Tolbert was inside a home on Coleman Street when he was shot four times from the back in the kitchen.
Hawkins said her son had told her he was visiting his best friend at the home with several other people.
“I find it very difficult that there were several people present, and there’s no pressure being applied,” family representative Samaria Smith said.
The family said they have received few updates from Atlanta police about the investigation.
“We don’t know where the case stands at this point,” Smith said.
The family said their most recent communication from police came in an email dated July 3.
They shared the email with Channel 2’s Eryn Rogers. It said police had obtained arrest warrants for Marquavius Henry and that a warrant had been flagged nationwide.
Police also issued a BOLO, or “be on the lookout,” for Henry.
The family says Henry is the brother of Tolbert’s best friend, who they believe was at the home when the shooting happened.
“We are concerned because of the connections that he has that could be something that’s at play,” Smith said.

Police have not publicly released details about what led investigators to seek the warrants or identified Henry as the person responsible for Tolbert’s death.
Tolbert’s family said his best friend grew up just two doors down from Tolbert and still lives in the area. They said the two men made music together and that Tolbert’s friend is a rapper.
The family said the best friend has an attorney, but they believe he could have information that may help investigators solve the case.
“That’s a hard pill to swallow when you know that person is out there and could be of some great assistance in solving this case,” Smith said.
Hawkins said seeing her son’s friend around the neighborhood has been difficult.
“Having to see this young man randomly from time to time, when he’s not out touring or not out doing his shows, it’s hurtful,” she said.
Hawkins said she wants Atlanta police to be more transparent about the investigation.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to Atlanta police twice in the past week for an update on the investigation but had not received a response.
Police told the family in the July 3 email that the investigation remains active. The department also said there have been no credible sightings of Henry.
Hawkins said she will continue pushing for answers.
“I won’t stop. I will never go away until everyone is held accountable for murdering my son,” she said.
