ATLANTA — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Friday the end of an operation across Georgia.
“Operation Safe Community – Atlanta” ended in the arrest of 1,226 illegal immigrants, ICE officials confirmed.

They say that of those, 720 have been convicted or charged with crimes in the U.S.
“Our officers did what they do best: they arrested and removed dangerous criminal offenders from American communities,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Acting Assistant Director Patricia Hyde.
Among those arrested were five people at the address of a trucking company.

Officials say those arrested have criminal histories including convictions for sex crimes, crimes against children, aggravated assault, burglary, lewd acts, DUI and more.
It’s unclear how long “Operation Safe Community – Atlanta” lasted.
