JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — A family is desperately searching for a Johns Creek woman who left her home Monday morning to run an errand and hasn't been seen since.

Family members told Channel 2 North Fulton County Bureau Chief Mike Petchenik that Lynn Smith has a "history of falling asleep at the wheel."

Smith's son, Wes Smith, said they're worried she may have crashed somewhere.

“She might have run off the road into an embankment or something. This has happened once before," Wes Smith said. Smith's son told Petchenik his mother drives a 2015 burgundy Honda Odyssey.

Petchenik confirmed that police are looking for Smith after the family reached out to Channel 2 Action News on our Facebook page.

"Yesterday, she left the house about 11 a.m; told my nephew that she was going to get a prescription," said Wes Smith, who immediately began contacting hospitals and police looking for his mother.

Petchenik followed him Tuesday as he searched up and down Ga. 141 in Johns Creek, looking for any signs of his mother's van.

Police issued a "be on the lookout" (BOLO) notice for Smith Tuesday afternoon.

"We're doing what we can.  We're trying not to think the worst.  I think she stranded somewhere and we need to get to her ASAP and get her to a hospital," Wes Smith said.

Anyone with information about Smith is urged to contact the Johns Creek Police Department tip line at 678-474-1610.
