The school cited declining re-enrollment and an “significant” increase in demand for scholarships and financial aid as reasons for the closure.

“These factors have placed considerable financial strain on the institution. As a small private school, Midtown International School has been particularly impacted by these challenges, making continued operations unsustainable,” school representatives said in a statement.

The school board notified faculty and staff on Monday about the decision to close. Officials said they are working to support staff, students and families during the transition.

“Midtown International School expresses its deep gratitude to its educators, staff, families, and alumni for their commitment and contributions over the years,” they said in a statement.
