Metro Atlanta council member resigns after pleading guilty to flashing at local college

LAGRANGE, Ga. — A member of the LaGrange City Council resigned from his position after pleading guilty to exposing himself at LaGrange College.

According to court records, former council member Marquaveyion “Quay” Boddie took a plea for public indecency and obstruction of justice after committing lewd acts at his office at the college campus in February.

The obstruction charge comes from the investigative process, where Boddie admitted to lying to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent about his actions.

As part of his plea deal, Boddie will serve 24 months of probation and pay a $1,000 fine.

Boddie resigned from his council seat as well, with Mayor Jim Arrington releasing the following statement:

“Serving as an elected official is a position of public trust, and we have a responsibility to uphold the confidence our citizens place in us. I respect Councilmember Boddie’s decision to resign from the LaGrange City Council. I appreciate his service to the City of LaGrange and to the residents of his district. The City Council will continue to serve the people of LaGrange with integrity, accountability, and respect. We will remain focused on the work ahead and on doing what is best for our community.”

The LaGrange City Council voted to hold a special election in November to fill the seat on Tuesday.
