SAVANNAH, Ga. — Police are searching for a man they say faked being a professional basketball player to steal a luxury car.
Savannah officers shared photos of the man they say is linked to several auto thefts in the area.
According to records obtained by WJCL, the man is wanted for several incidents at downtown Savannah hotels in August.

In one incident, the police report says he walked into a hotel lobby, went to a white Audi to get his belongings and handed valet workers a ticket for a gray 2026 BMW X5, valued at around $90,000.
The report says he claimed he is a professional basketball player with several vehicles at the hotel.
He was able to retrieve the car and drive off in it.

The SUV was a dealership loaner being used by an actual hotel guest.
Police tracked it to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and had it listed as stolen.
Investigators later discovered that the Audi had also been reported stolen by another agency.
