ATLANTA — A shootout at a southwest Atlanta apartment left one person dead and another injured late Tuesday.
Homicide detectives told Channel 2's Darryn Moore that an argument inside the Deerfield Garden Apartments on Campbellton Road likely led to the shooting.
A man was shot in the head and killed and a woman was shot in the leg and chest, police said. The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Detectives told Moore that shots were fired from several different weapons and several other people were involved in the shootout in the parking lot of the complex. Bullets pierced through the walls of several apartments.
Police told Moore they were trying to determine if the victims were involved in the dispute or got caught in the crossfire.
Officers said a number of people witnessed the shooting but they did not have a description of those involved.
