GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: A Gwinnett County judge sentenced Brian Brewner to life in prison on Wednesday.

---------------------------------

A jury found a Gwinnett County man guilty of planning a murder inside a Duluth home.

The victim's girlfriend and her 8-year-old child were also shot.

The jury deliberated at the Gwinnett County courthouse until about 7:30 p.m. Friday before finding Brian Brewner guilty on nearly 20 different charges

The victim's family told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes that they finally felt some sort of closure.

"We feel justice was done for our son," said William Schrier, the victim's father.

In the early morning hours of Aug. 6, 2014, police say two gunmen burst into a Duluth home and opened fire.

Investigators say they were looking for money and drugs..

The gunmen killed Adam Schrier, shot his girlfriend Jami Smith and her 8-year-old daughter.

The little girl testified in court on Tuesday.

"Then the guys did a few more shootings and said tomorrow, 'I'm coming back to kill you all,'" the girl testified.

Police say Brewner wasn't present during the home invasion but they collected enough evidence to convince the jury he was the ringleader of the crime.

"In Georgia even if you do as little as he claimed he did, it still makes you part of the crime and they found him guilty," attorney Nigel Lush said.

Brewner is one of five suspects police believe was involved.

"He wanted to wash his hands of this and walk away but the jury didn't let him do it, and we're extremely thankful for that," Schrier said.

The jury found Brewner guilty on nearly 20 different charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

There is word no on when Brewner will be sentenced, but we know the assistant district attorney will now be going after those other four suspects police believe were involved.
