DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Police said a man appearing in court Monday with what may be a record number of total arrests picked up several more charges in connection with a department store theft this weekend.
Timothy Lowe, 53, appeared in Douglas County magistrate court on charges of possession of a schedule II substance, obstruction, shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing/eluding, driving on a suspended license and DUI.
Police said he had been arrested about 68 times prior to allegedly stealing a coat and fur hat from a Bealls on Fairburn Road. He speeded onto I-20 and resisted officers orders, while under the influence of crack cocaine, police said.
The District Attorney's office requested no bond amid concerns that he's a danger to the community and likely to commit a felony.
Police had to physically lift Lowe and put him in the patrol car. They found crack cocaine in Lowe's vehicle during the impound process. A blood test determined he had drugs in his system.
