CARROLLTON, Ga. — Police say they have arrested a man that was posing as a good Samaritan but, in actuality, was anything but.

Barbara Braun told Channel 2's Carl Willis that she realized too late that she may have been taken in a scam.

Braun said she parked her car in front of a Carrollton store Sunday and, within minutes, said a man came right up to her in the store and asked if it was her white car with the flat tire outside.

"I didn't see him say that to anybody else. When I came out, he came right behind me," Braun said.

Braun said he offered to change the flat and get her back on the road. She thanked him and gave him cash after hearing his hard luck story, but then she took the tire to the shop.

"When I took the tire in, they said it was slashed. I had to get a new tire. $111 for a new tire," Braun said.

That's when Braun said she went to Carrollton police and filed a report. She says she learned that she's not alone.

"Some other people had called and said the same thing happened to them. So, there's been more than one person. There have been several people," Braun said.

Police arrested Clyde Morgan, 59, for taking Braun's money.

But she says she's more concerned about anyone else who may have been fooled. She believes she was targeted, because she has a disabled placard displayed in her car.

"Because I transport my mother, and I felt like he might do that to somebody that's much more vulnerable than me," Braun said.

Morgan was given $5,000 bond but remains in Carroll County Jail.

Police want anyone to give them a call if they believe they fell victim to this potential scam.
