MACON, Ga. — The trial of a man charged with killing and dismembering a law school classmate in Macon has been moved to Henry County about 60 miles away.

The Telegraph reports a court order filed Wednesday says the trial for 28-year-old Stephen McDaniel will be held in McDonough. It is scheduled to begin April 28.

McDaniel is charged with murder in the June 2011 slaying of 27-year-old Lauren Giddings, who had just graduated from Mercer University Law School. Her torso was found in a trash bin outside the apartment complex where Giddings and McDaniel were neighbors. The rest of her remains were never recovered.

McDaniel's defense attorneys had asked to move the trial, saying news coverage of the case would make it impossible to seat an impartial jury in Macon.
