ATLANTA — You’re being treated to a once-in-a-lifetime sight in the sky.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said Comet NEOWISE will be in the northeastern skies over Georgia over the next few days. You’ll have to look low on the horizon, and it will be near Venus around dawn.
Later in the month, you’ll be able to look higher in the sky after sunset to see NEOWISE.
“You’ll certainly be able to spot it with binoculars, but there have been reports in other places the last couple of mornings of being able to see it with the naked eye,” Monahan said.
The comet was just discovered in March.
Observers all over the world are racing to see the natural fireworks display before the comet speeds away into the depths of space. Even the astronauts aboard the International Space Station spotted it from their vantage point high above Earth’s atmosphere.
