BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents after receiving multiple complaints regarding bank impersonation scams. Sheriff officials say fraudsters are using computer-generated spoof phone numbers to impersonate financial institutions and claim to be calling from bank fraud departments.

According to law enforcement, the scammers have been asking potential victims to withdraw large amounts of cash. They then instruct individuals to give the cash to a courier or leave it at a specified drop-off location.
The Sheriff’s Office noted that impersonation scams can occur at any time and take various forms. To avoid falling victim to the scheme, officials urge anyone who receives a suspicious call fitting this description to hang up immediately. Residents should then contact their financial institution directly to verify the information.
