LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A Gwinnett County restaurant has failed inspections twice in less than two months.

This time, they got the lowest score that Channel 2's Carol Sbarge has reported on.

Mei Garden in Lawrenceville got a score of 26. The health inspection was done on April 8.

Sbarge found several people who eat at Mei Garden regularly. Rafael Barajas said he eats there about once a week, and the score shocked to him.

Alma Martinez said Mei Garden is the only Chinese restaurant she eats at. She thought it was good, but now won't be back.

The 26 score comes just a month-and-half after the restaurant on Lawrenceville Highway failed with a 59.

This time the numerous violations include soy sauce contaminated with raw egg, lack of required hand washing, ineffective cooling methods used to cool food and raw scallops stored on top of torn bag of cooker pork in the freezer. Also noted was no active managerial control.

Sbarge went to Mei Garden to find out what they are doing about the problems that caused a score of 26.

After failing in February, they got their score up to 96 on a re-inspection, but that lasted little more than a month.

No one from the restaurant would comment to Sbarge.

If an inspector finds some of the violations a third time, Mei Garden could lose its permit.

We'll let you know what happens during the next inspection.
