The LA28 committee announced on Tuesday that its 2028 Olympic Torch Relay will start in Atlanta and travel through all 50 states.
Channel 2’s Lori Wilson attended the special ceremony in Atlanta where Mayor Andre Dickens, LA28 chairman and president Casey Wasserman and other dignitaries made the announcement.

Los Angeles will be the first U.S. city to host the Summer Olympics since it was Atlanta’s turn 30 years ago in 1996.
The organization said the Olympic flame will be lit in Olympia, Greece, before it travels through all 50 states in spring 2028. LA28 said the full route will come out in 2027.
The organization also said the Paralympic Torch Relay will follow the Olympic Games in August 2028, with the flame starting in Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom. LA28 said it will announce the U.S. starting location for that relay later.
LA28 said it will announce more information on torchbearer nominations and more relay partners in the coming months.
