Jeni's Ice Cream closed following product recall

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Another popular ice cream brand is recalling its product over serious health fears.

Jeni's Ice Cream is closed for business after a sample pint of their ice cream tested positive for listeria. It's the same bacteria inspectors found in Blue Bell ice cream products.

A Jeni's Spokesperson said the recall is strictly voluntary and that they have not received any reports of anyone falling ill from their products.

Customers Channel 2 Action News spoke with say they're still cautious about Jeni's products.

"To come in and enjoy yourself with ice cream and die or go to the hospital...my goodness," Fred Jacobs said. "All precautions should be taken."

Channel 2's Audrey Washington has what specific steps the company is taking to get to the root of the contamination on the Channel 2 Action News at 4.
