LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. — A vehicle crash in Lumpkin County near Whitewater Trail ended in tragedy Thursday.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers responded to a fatal wreck near Whitewater Trail, where a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk carrying an adult and three children went over an embankment and into the Chestatee River.
Troopers told Channel 2 Action News that the driver was turning into a driveway when the tires traveled off, causing the vehicle to go down a steep embankment.

The Jeep hit the roadway of Whitewater Trail, according to GSP, then went down a second embankment, where it overturned.
The adult driver and three children were trapped inside.
Troopers said the driver suffered minor injuries, and one of the children, a 3-year-old, died from their injuries on the scene.
No charges are being filed at this time, according to GSP.
