COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Two people are at Grady Memorial Hospital after a shooting at a college park apartment complex late Saturday night.
Investigators say multiple witnesses told them it was the mother of one of the victims that fired at least four shots, possibly striking her own son in the head and another person.
Wayne Jones told us it was his 15-year-old son Pierre Tilson who was shot in the head Saturday night at the apartment complex off Godby Road.
"He was visiting his mother, he was shot in the face, shot in the head," Jones said.
Jones told Channel 2's Liz Artz that his son lives with him, a student at Southwest DeKalb High School. He said he was visiting his mother for the Easter holiday.
Police have reason to believe it could have been the 15-year-old victim's own mother who shot him and then went back inside her apartment while her son laid injured in the parking lot.
"One of the person's mother came out. She tried apparently to get them to back off, was punched in faced from what we understand, fired four to five shots and two people were hit," said Lt. Cameron Burke with the College Park Police Department.
Police say they found four rounds that all appear to have been fired from a gun found in the mom's apartment.
Detectives told Artz the second victim didn't wait around for an ambulance.
"Witnesses told us another person had also been hit. He jumped in a car and was transported to Grady," Burke said.
Detectives say if they find witness statements to be true, the mother could be charged with reckless conduct and aggravated assault.
If one of the victim's dies she could face second-degree murder charges.
