LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. — A bald eagle is safe after being rescued in Lincoln County Thursday afternoon.

Wildlife rescuers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources received reports about an injured bald eagle at Clarks Hill Lake near a public boat ramp in Lincoln County.
The rescuers were able to safely capture the eagle and take it to a rehabilitator for evaluation and care.

Bald eagles are known to nest along Georgia’s coast and in the Okefenokee Swamp, Georgia Wildlife states.
According to officials, wildlife are resilient and often heal from injuries on their own. It’s also best to leave them alone and to not help.
While injured, wildlife may be more prone to defend themselves, so humans should not try to handle them.
