Indigo Girls’ bus driver dies in I-20 crash

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Indigo Girls have postponed two concerts after their bus driver, Kirk, was killed in a crash on Interstate 20.

The crash happened early Friday morning around 6 a.m., according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Atlanta duo said no other band or crew members were on the bus at the time.

“Kirk was an integral part of our life on the road. He shepherded us safely across thousands of miles, through every season and all kinds of weather. He was a joyful constant in our lives, and we will miss him dearly,” Amy Ray and Emily Saliers said in a statement.

Indigo Girls canceled their Saturday performance in Myrtle Beach and postponed their Sunday performance in Wilmington, N.C. They will announce decisions on their upcoming shows in Ponte Verde Beach, Fla. and Sugarland, Texas.

“For now, we ask that you take a moment to say a prayer or send your love to Kirk, who helped bring Indigo Girls’ music to you every night on tour,” they said.
