ATLANTA — Two separate crashes on Interstate 285 have shut down lanes for hours in Clayton County and Sandy Springs. Channel 2 Action News has confirmed at least one of the crashes was deadly.
Triple Team Traffic’s Mike Shields followed both crashes throughout Wednesday morning on Channel 2 Action News This Morning starting at 4:30 a.m.
The first happened around 3 a.m. along I-285 near Riverdale Road in Clayton County. The lanes didn’t reopen until 8 a.m. Channel 2 Action News has reached out for more information on what led to that crash.

Around 5:49 a.m., a separate crash happened on I-285 at New Northside Drive in Sandy Springs. Police later confirmed to Shields that one person died in the crash.
Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach saw investigators putting out cones to block off two right lanes and to allow traffic to move again in the left lanes.
