Hundreds of officers attend son of slain police officer's graduation

GRIFFIN, Ga. — Hundreds of law enforcement officers watched the son of a slain Griffin police officer graduate from high school.

Just days ago the teen lost his father, Officer Kevin Jordan, in a shooting outside a local restaurant.

Hezekiah Jordan proudly accepted his high school diploma from Griffin High School surrounded by friends, family and dozens of law enforcement officers who couldn't replace his father, but represented what he stood for.

[What do you think your dad would be thinking right now?] "How proud he is," Hezekiah Jordan said.

His father was fatally shot a week ago while attempting to arrest Chantell Mixon at a Griffin Waffle House. Her boyfriend, Michael Bowman, allegedly shot Jordan five times during that arrest.

Both Mixon and Bowman face murder charges.

"My husband did what he enjoyed doing. He loved people,"

Tammy Jordan said it was a happy day and she only wanted to celebrate her son's success.

"I'm so proud of you baby. You did it. You know, I'm just proud of him really proud of him," Tammy Jordan said.

Hezekiah Jordan showed off a picture his classmates gave him to honor his dad. He's off to Georgia State to get a degree in criminal justice, because he wants to go into law enforcement like his father, and the dozens of men and women who supported him on graduation day.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. They helped the day be a better day," Hezekiah Jordan said.
